(Reuters) – The U.S. Section of Justice (DOJ) has accelerated its two-yr-aged antitrust probe on Apple Inc in the past several months, raising the likelihood of a lawsuit, the Facts reported on Monday.

Legal professionals for the DOJ have requested Apple, its clients and competitors inquiries about how the enterprise maintains its rigid command over the Apple iphone, the report said, citing two folks with awareness of the investigation.

The investigation is extremely “likely to lead to a lawsuit, while the details are nevertheless in flux,” in accordance to the report.

The DOJ declined to comment, though Apple did not promptly respond to a Reuters request for comment.
