Curious about how entertainment like music, theme parks, video games, and movies are incorporating immersive technology and living up to the promise of the metaverse?

Here are some of the biggest examples of how the metaverse is already shaking up the entertainment world.

Attending Virtual Concerts

Thanks to metaverse technology, you can catch a VR concert by your favorite artist and watch the action right from your couch.

We can now use augmented and virtual reality to create effects like holograms that add incredible immersive experiences to concerts.

The ABBA Voyage experience in London is a great example of how immersive technology enhances the entire concert experience. The creators of ABBA Voyage recorded the group members performing their songs – the singers are in their seventies now – and used artificial intelligence to make them look younger onstage. Now they are using the AI-generated version of ABBA group members to create holograms that can perform on stage during the ABBA Voyage experience.

In the meantime, online game platforms like Fortnite and Roblox are already hosting their own virtual concerts, featuring artists like Twenty One Pilots, Ariana Grande, and Travis Scott. These virtual experiences have already attracted millions of viewers, and we are likely to see a lot more of these metaverse performances.

Riding the VR and AR Wave at Theme Parks

Walt Disney has announced their intention to build a theme park in the metaverse in the next few years, and we already have amusement park rides that are enhanced by AR and VR.

Universal Studios Hollywood will also import a Mario Kart-themed ride from Japan that uses augmented reality to create the illusion that the user is interacting with virtual characters and objects. Visor-like glasses will enable theme park guests to engage with digital creations on the ride in real-time.

A More Immersive Movie Experience

We all love movies, right? Now they’re getting even better.

Innovative directors and producers are already using AR and VR to make the movie-watching experience more immersive.

Directors can film 360-degree footage to help viewers feel like they are really part of the action. This is a great way to help transport people into virtual locations all over the world and let them experience what it’s like to be there in person.

A lot of the technology that has been developed in video games is now being used in movie making, as well. In the future, directors will be able to make movies where the content is generated on the fly using AI, and you’ll be able to interact with characters and settings based on your own choices. Everyone will have a completely unique experience because the personalized movie content will be generated specifically for you.

Many movies are also shooting behind-the-scenes footage that is available to watch in VR, so you can explore the set and see what happened as the movie was being made.
