The Starlight Theater and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art announced Thursday that Van Gogh Alive is coming to Kansas City later this year. For a limited time only – from October 23rd to 31st – visitors have the opportunity to experience Van Gogh’s art and “really venture into his world”. Van Gogh Alive was developed by Grande Experiences and is an extensive, immersive, multi-sensory art and entertainment experience that has inspired over 8 million people in 70 cities around the world. For Van Gogh Alive, Starlight will transform his stage house into the world of the revered 19th century painter. Visitors will wander through the exhibition on Starlight’s 12,000 square meter, air-conditioned area. “We are excited to use our space in such a unique way and look forward to partnering with the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art to bring such an experience to the Kansas City community,” said Rich Baker, CEO and President of Starlight. Visitors will feel the feel of Van Gogh’s paintings, which are adorable, entertaining, and educational at the same time. Interactive art stations are available where visitors can create their own artwork using video tutorials. In addition, visitors can create their own souvenirs in a life-size walk-in display of Van Gogh’s painting “Bedroom in Arles” and the legendary “Sunflower Selfie Room” – a 360-degree mirrored room with hundreds of sunflowers that Instagram feeds the world. Here you can create your own masterpiece and share your pictures on social media with the hashtag #VanGoghAliveKC. “The Nelson-Atkins are excited to partner with Starlight to bring this vibrant and visual journey to Kansas City,” said Julián Zugazagoitia, director and CEO of Nelson-Atkins. “What a dazzling way to expand the arts in our community.” Tickets are $ 45 and go on sale June 1st at 10am on kcstarlight.com.
