Michigan Works! Worker Assistant Grant is providing help to Michigan restaurant and leisure employees impacted by November 2020 MDHHS order

MARQUETTE, me. (WLUC) – Employees in one of Michigan’s hardest hit sectors have the opportunity to receive a financial boost.

If you work in a restaurant or an entertainment and events company, you can apply for a staff assistance grant.

According to Michigan Works! Kevin Angsten, Business Services Specialist, “Employees affected by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Department of Health and Human Services Ordinance, which went into effect November 18, 2020, are eligible for an Employee Assistance Grant apply for up to USD 1,650. “

The online application opens on Friday, January 15th at 9 a.m.CET and can be found at mrlaef.org/money.

Applications must be submitted by January 25, 2021, 5 p.m. (CET).

Applicants must provide proof of employment and the effects of the last appointment.

Michigan employees affected by the November 2020 MDHHS Regulation must have worked in one of the following industries to qualify for an employee support grant:

• Bars

• Banquet halls

• Bowling allies

• Cafeterias

• Casinos

• Caterer

• Food truck

• Golf courses

• Hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, resorts

• night clubs

• Restaurants

• Theatre
