Republican House candidate Jerone Davison of Arizona released a new ad claiming that he needed an AR-15 to defend himself in case he was attacked by Democrats in Klan hoods.

Davison says, “When this rifle is the only thing standing between your family and a dozen angry Democrats in Klan hoods, you just may need that semi-automatic.”
Someone probably needs to tell Davison that the people in the Klan hoods coming for his family won’t be Democrats, but white people who most likely voted for Donald Trump.
The reason why Davison was able to release this ad without being laughed at by all is that Fox News and conservative media have spent decades trying to convince their viewers that Democrats are the real racists.
Their “evidence” is always that segregationists were white Democrats in the South. Fox and other conservative media always leave out the rest of the history where those voters flipped to the Republican Party after LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act and Richard Nixon courted them with racism in 1968.
For decades white supremacists and racists have been aligned with the right.
The right has warped and rewritten history to such a degree that an African-American House candidate can run an ad that is so completely distorted and yet it will be met with praise and nods of approval from Republicans.
