(NASDAQ: ROKU) announced today that the contents of the Quibi acquisition will be renamed “Roku Originals” and posted on the Roku Channel in January. “Roku Originals” will also be the brand name for future original programming for The Roku Channel, the home of free, ad-supported entertainment on the Roku platform for viewers in the US, UK and Canada. More details on the launch of Roku Originals will be announced in May.

Roku Originals gives viewers free access to bold, fresh entertainment from Hollywood’s biggest names – from award-winning scripted entertainment to engaging documentaries to new scriptless breakout series. Viewers can enjoy relevant, diverse entertainment that is available to everyone, anywhere. The Roku Canal is available.

More than 75 Roku originals, including a dozen unreleased series, will debut on the Roku Channel for the first time this year. The addition of Roku Originals marks a time of incredible growth for The Roku Channel, which reached US households of an estimated 63 million people in the fourth quarter of 2020, up more than 100% year over year.
