Shailene Woodley has confirmed that she is engaged to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The actress discussed her relationship with Rodgers on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” Monday and said they got engaged “a while ago”. Rodgers, 37, mentioned his engagement and thanked his fiancée when he received his third career MVP award on Feb.6, but did not say her name.
“Yes, we are engaged,” said Woodley. “We’re engaged. But it’s not new news to us, you know, so it’s kind of funny. Everyone’s freaking out about it right now and we’re like,” Yeah, we’ve been engaged for a while. “
Woodley, 29, said she still has not played any of Rodgers’ games, noting the entry restrictions caused by the pandemic last season. Woodley added that she had never seen a soccer game before meeting Rodgers.
“He’s a wonderful, amazing person to start with, but I never thought I’d be engaged to someone who made a living playing balls,” said Woodley. “When I never thought as a little girl I thought, ‘Yeah, when I grow up I’m going to marry someone who throws balls, yeah! ‘But he’s really that good at it. “
Woodley said she realized Rodgers was a soccer player when they met but didn’t know much about his career. She said friends are now trying to get her to watch Rodgers’ highlights on YouTube.
“I don’t know him as a footballer,” said Woodley. “I know him like the nerd, the ‘Jeopardy!’ This is the guy I know. He’s just very good at sports too. “
Rodgers was announced last month as the celebrity guest host for the long-running game show. Longstanding “danger!” Host Alex Trebek died of cancer on November 8th. Rodger’s residency begins April 5th.
Woodley spoke to Fallon on Monday to promote her film “The Mauretanian”. Her previous credits include the HBO series “Big Little Lies”, “The Flaw in Our Stars” and “Divergent”.
