Travis Scott says his upcoming album has influenced his Dior collection.
The 29-year-old rapper was inspired to create his clothing line with the French fashion house while working on the much-anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Astroworld.
He told WWD, “I’m in this new album mode that it’s like psychedelic rock. Just like with the cacti and mushrooms, you can stumble. “
The collection includes sweatshirts, oversized t-shirts, silk-satin shirts, necklaces and pins with his own illustrations and the cactus jack symbol.
The hip-hop megastar was also inspired by his hometown in Texas.
The ‘Sicko Mode’ hitmaker said, “I was just trying to take some of the textures off of what you might see in my back yard on a daily basis. I wanted to make something that felt like you could wear it on the street every day, but it still has a way to wear it in and out of a large building or bodega – so we just made this trip . “
However, Travis has also recorded couture pieces for special occasions.
He added, “We tried all of the different types of silhouettes and put them in a place where I usually don’t even walk around in my own clothes. We make more street style things, so getting into a house that does more couture levels and a kind of mesh was kind of cool.
Meanwhile, Dior announced that four white shirts, hand-painted by artist George Condo, would go under the hammer to benefit the Cactus Jack Foundation’s fashion program by Travis and the New School’s Parsons School of Design.
Menswear Artistic Director Kim Jones said, “That was one of the things that really got me to do this with Travis because, like me, he understands that we need young people going through the system to get educated will fulfill their dreams. “
