The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is Ukraine’s largest nuclear power facility. Grenell, in a statement released on Twitter, said, “We warn Russia that any attempt to move or tamper with sealed containers storing US nuclear fuel would be a grave matter. The United States strongly supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The US ambassador’s warning comes amidst reports that Russian military intelligence is planning to attack the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. The claim has been fiercely denied by the Russian authorities.
While the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been operational for over three decades, it is regularly modernized with the aim of ensuring its safety and efficiency.
